CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.

The CERC Fellow will undertake research into assessing early brain development and detection of brain injuries in neonates at risk of adverse neurodevelopment using MR imaging. The Fellow will take a role in multiple existing projects in this area, which includes managing and growing existing inter-institutional collaborations with clinicians and external scientists in addition to overcoming the significant technical challenges in the area.

**Your duties will include**:

- Carrying out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO that will, where possible, lead to novel and important scientific outcomes.
- Developing innovative concepts and ideas for assessing MR images that utilise structural and diffusion imaging, including contribution to research grants.
- Supporting the supervision of PhD students and vacation work students.
- Designing and conducting the research substudy, including data collection and analysis of existing and new data.
- Communicating the results in high quality journals, client reports, and supporting the drafting of patents to protect IP as needed.
- Recognising and utilising opportunities for innovation and the generation of new theoretical perspectives, and progressing opportunities for the further development or creation of new lines of research.

**Salary**: AU$99,990 - AU$109,527 plus 15.4% superannuation

**To be considered you will need**:

- A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD). The doctorate must be in a relevant discipline area, such as Medical Imaging or Biomedical Engineering. Please note: To be eligible for this role you must have **no more than 3 years** (full-time equivalent) of relevant research experience.
- Experience in programming with Python, C++ and/or Matlab.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake processing of biomedical imaging data.
- High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent the research team effectively internally and externally
