**About the Business Unit**:
The role of the Office of Racing is to advise the Minister for Racing on the development and implementation of racing legislation and on current and emerging racing-related issues. The Office of Racing administers racing legislation, supports and implements the government's racing policy objectives and facilitates the ongoing relationship between the government and stakeholders within the racing industry. Key stakeholders include Racing Victoria Limited, Harness Racing Victoria and Greyhound Racing Victoria, the Racing Integrity Commissioner, Racing Analytical Services Limited and key racing stakeholder bodies such as those representing owners, trainers, jockeys, drivers and other industry representative bodies.
The Office of Racing also has responsibility for the administration of funding support to the racing industry in order to deliver on key objectives of the government's racing program.
**About the Role**:
As a Policy Officer, you will support the delivery of government's racing policy agenda.
Some of your duties will include:
- Working as part of a team to develop evidenced based policy options and providing advice to the key internal stakeholders on complex policy issues and solutions, undertaking high quality research and stakeholder consultation
- Developing a sound understanding of the policy and legislative framework underpinning the regulation of Victorian racing in order to support the development of comprehensive policy responses
- Preparing high quality briefings and correspondence on racing issues.
