Planning Manager

**About the role**
This role will be responsible to lead the planning and controls function for the Major Projects; taking accountability for the Time elements of project’s performance. Reporting on progress towards achieving delivery dates and on cost performance, with recommendations on how and where to improve performance, is the most important aspects of the Planner’s work.
- Provide leadership and direction to planners within the Project
- Facilitate planning activity within programme to ensure acceptable quality standards and consistency with local standards.
- Validate all plans and ensure integration into overall operational and business plans.
- Review resource availability to support plans and take action to address resource shortfalls and risks to delivery.
- Manage so that the plan is fully resourced and monitor progress to the plan and make changes as required. Develop recovery programme and contingency plans in order to meet changed objectives.
**About you**
- Have at least 10 years planning and project controls management experience on major Rail, Road and Civil construction projects
- Analytical skills and a logical approach to problem solving.
- Diploma or tertiary qualified education in Engineering, Finance or Project Manager preferred
- Proven ability to display initiative and a team-based approach to work.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
- Proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and MS Project desirable
