Sheq Manager

**About the Role**
Ventia are seeking to engage an experienced SHEQ Manager with a positive and generative approach to the safety and health, environment, and quality functions.

The role will manage and develop SHEQ Advisors to ensure technical capability to drive the development, implementation and continual improvement of the management systems to meet legal, contractual and other business requirements.

**_Your duties will include, but are not limited to:_**
- Managing the implementation of Ventia Safety Management Plans across Defence contracts
- Ensuring compliance with legislations, regulations and standards
- Undertake, or lead, investigations in relation to safety related incidents or issues, provide recommendations and conduct report reviews
- Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures including fostering a culture of ‘safety and health above all else’
- Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are developed and maintained and all records are managed in accordance with Company requirements
- Ensuring that the Ventia “Critical Risk Protocols” are embedded in the projects
- Promoting the participation of all people in achieving a safe workplace with zero impact on the environment
- Develop and deliver safety related training when required, including new starter induction, tool box talks, pre start meetings and SHEQ specific modules
- Conduct and analyse audit results for trends and areas of focus
- Liaise with Client safety personnel regarding OH&S and environmental issues, risks and hazards and work method risk assessment
- Facilitate the delivery of mandatory and contractual HSE training for all levels of the workforce
- Support the documentation of project specific HSE process and procedures as necessary
- Partner with the implementation of HSE requirements in the subcontractor engagement and onboarding processes
- Task HSE Advisors in support of the day-to-day HSE function and operational needs

**To be successful you will have the following**
- Tertiary Qualification in Workplace/ Occupation Health and Safety, Environmental or Quality Equivalent
- Lead teams and encourage development and growth
- Formal training in incident investigation
- Management Systems and/or Auditor Qualifications
- Have suitable experience as a safety professional in industrial safety with at least 5 years experience
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture
- Experience in managing safety audit programs to ensure effective system compliance
- Ability to implement and manage a collaborative workplace culture
- Demonstrated understanding of contractual KPI’s, demonstrated commitment to HS&E through behaviours, visible and accountable leadership and participation in monitoring of established working practices
- Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards
- Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and drive continuous improvement
