Warrah is a disability services provider based in North West Sydney. Inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Warrah has been offering quality support and services for adults and children living with disability for over 50 years. Warrah is a vibrant community, enriching the lives of individuals through our broad range of services, which include Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Support Services (CSS) and Warrah Specialist School. We also have a certified Biodynamic Farm and Farm Shop.
As a SIL Coordinator you will lead a team to deliver high quality support that is aligned to best practice and provides opportunities for participants to explore their potential.
You will have a strong focus on collaboration, quality, compliance and continuous practice improvement together with skills and interest in strengthening team engagement and performance through coaching and practice reflection.
You will require skills and knowledge in observing changing support needs of those who are aging, have complex health and medical needs, together with a deep understanding of implementing positive behaviour support strategies and allied health management plans.
This role includes some direct support shifts where you have an opportunity to model best practice, walk beside your team and observe any changes in support needs. You will also have an allocation of non-direct support hours to enable you to perform administrative tasks related to participants, staff and the broader organisation, collaborate with stakeholders and ensure that all relevant compliance requirements are met.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Ensure that residential care is delivered in accordance with the mission, values and principles of Warrah, in compliance with legislative responsibilities and organisational policies and procedures.
- Assess, monitor and review client support on a regular basis and respond to changing needs and issues as appropriate.
- Assist in the development, implementation & review of high-quality person centred plans.
- Ensure that the health and medical needs of clients are identified, and responses are planned in a timely manner.
- Develop, promote and maintain effective relationships with clients, families, carers and the community in order to promote positive outcomes for clients.
- Supervise staff to foster optimal person centred outcomes for residents.
- Promote a collaborative culture of learning, improvement, accountability and innovation fostering professional growth.
- Provide support, coaching and mentoring to the front-line team to meet the demands of their role ensuring service standards are met.
- Develop, implement and review individual house routines ensuring practices are person centred and maintain compliance with relevant standards.
- Complete required administrative tasks and all documentation.
- Plan workload and prioritise utilising effective time management.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
- Minimum 2 yrs. experience working with adults with intellectual disability in a residential setting.
- Tertiary qualifications minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Disabilities or related.
- Able to engage empathically with people with disabilities, including those with severe disabilities
- Effective human resource practices including leadership, staff mentoring and management, and team building/motivation techniques, and performance management.
- Able to support and mentor staff to use initiative, work flexibly, prioritise work and to work in a person-centred way.
- Demonstrated experience using person centred approaches to effectively develop and implement individual person-centred plans.
- Well organised, ability to prioritise with good time management skills.
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills including written, spoken & listening
- Well-developed ability to problem-solve and implement practical solutions.
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current WHS practices and understanding of risk management in a Residential Service setting
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about and engage with the principles of Rudolf Steiner’s Social Therapy
- Current driver’s licence & First Aid Certificate
