**About the role**
As a Disability Support Worker working with Trusted Care Partners, you will join a team of responsible workers offering people with disabilities support in a range of settings in this role, your aim is to help people live “their best life”. What this means is, you will work with professional people to help manage their daily routines and activities.
You will be working with and managed by industry specialists who are dedicated to your professional growth and development.
**What a normal day would look like**
- You will help people in their homes and residential settings, supporting with daily living tasks such as assistance with personal care, basic household cleaning, mealtime and medication assistance, supporting others with managing daily routines, accessing the community for social and community participation.
- You will develop an understanding the needs, goals, and daily activities of clients to be able to provide quality supports and service, which is reflected from the clients NDIS plan.
- You will be able to engage with people in a range of settings representing the interest of people with disabilities in being able to achieve “their best life”.
- You will be able to develop meaningful and professional relationships with clients and families.
- You will be able to write professional case notes, and complete reporting.
- You will also be able to work with a range of relevant stakeholders.
**Experience - Our workers will have**
- Workers will have 1-2 years of working with people with disabilities in similar settings, but this is not essential. We will support new entry workers into the sector with support and development.
- You must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives.
- To be able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Able to manage the cope physical demands of the job and perform manual handing task.
**Essential criteria**:
- The legal right to work in Australia
- A valid Victorian driver's license, and a reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check (if working with children under 18)
- Proof of 3 COVID-19 Vaccinations
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
- Two professional references
**Desirable criteria**:
A certificate III, IV or Diploma qualification in disability or relevant area such as mental health, nursing, youth, justice, allied health, early childhood and education and/or community services.
This job also requires experience supporting people with high needs or people with behaviour support plans.
