Molecular Technician

The Cellular Genomics platform provides deep support in running flow cytometry, cellular genomics (single-cell), and spatial sequencing experiments for both internal and external research groups. It is also responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies and protocols, and working with research programs to implement large-scale cellular genomics experiments
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Molecular Technician is an entry-level position within the Cellular Genomics Platform, contributing to the Platform’s workflow on cellular genomics assays under supervision. The role includes following detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs), learning about developments in the field, and contributing to single cell genomic assays with guidance from senior Platform staff.
**Salary**: $62,500 + 11% super + salary packaging
Employment Type: 2 year full time contract

WHAT YOU WILL DO- 10x Genomics Assays: Assist in conducting various single cell/nuclei assays, library generation, and sample quality checks under supervision.- DNA Sequencing: Assist in performing single cell DNA sequencing using the Tapestri Platform (Mission Bio) under supervision.- Documentation and Records: Help maintain comprehensive records of the molecular requirements and techniques for all projects, using the Atlassian product suite, under supervision.- Quality Assurance: Assist in identifying and addressing areas of weakness in molecular analysis techniques.- Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior team members on task progress and developments.- Experimental Design and Analysis: Assist in data analysis, and troubleshooting under the supervision of senior staff.- General Laboratory Duties: Conduct general laboratory tasks in delivering optimal Platform outcomes.
ABOUT YOU
The key skills and experience of a Molecular Technician include:
- Basic skills in molecular biology and genomics laboratory techniques.- Familiarity with or willingness to learn 10x Genomics and Tapestri Platform assays.- Ability to follow detailed SOPs and protocols.- Basic problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting issues during experiments.- Good communication skills.- Familiarity with or willingness to learn the Atlassian product suite (Confluence and Jira).-
- Ability to assist in project reporting and maintaining comprehensive records.- Good interpersonal skills for collaboration within the team.- Undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics or a related field desirable.- Practical experience in a molecular biology or genomics laboratory is an advantage but not essential.
