**About the Role**

The Youth Worker in School (YWIS) will be place based at a School and work with a caseload of young people who are deemed ‘at risk’, with the objective of supporting their engagement through school and/or their transition onto further education, training, employment and positive socialisation and active community engagement. The YWIS will develop and deliver programs and activities within the School that support positive development and motivation.

**This role will be at schools in the southern region and our Melrose Park Site and will be Full Time on a Fixed Term contract until 19/12/2025 with the opportunity to extend.**

Travel will be required between the sites, schools and other service providers. Excellent organisational skills and building and maintaining good relationships are paramount.

**About You**

**To be successful in the role you will be able to:

- Case manage young people by providing a range of services to individual participants including:

- Assess young people’s skills and barriers to participation in education, training, work and community;
- Conduct vocational assessments and one-to-one career guidance, through interview and engagement techniques;
- Develop confidence in young people to empower them to generate their own outcomes;
- Develop engagement plans to ensure the young person remains engaged with a view to undertaking education or facilitate participation in non-school based education, vocational learning and training; and
- Contribute innovative ideas for the advancement of young people towards goals including retention, employment, training, and a socially inclusive lifestyle.
- Monitor and support engagement plans through a variety of techniques such as referral and advocacy with other agencies.
- Develop and facilitating group programs to and for young people.
- Provide ongoing assistance to young people on a one-to-one basis and in groups within contractual time frames and offer practical support.
- Adhere to contractual guidelines including maintaining case notes and participant files in accordance with policy, ensuring information is recorded on the relevant database.
- Ensure administration requirements are accurate and up to date within reasonable timeframes.
- Provide reports to management and stakeholders in accordance with requirements.
- Adhere to the Integrated Management System and assist with continuous improvement activities.

You will also be required to:

- Hold a current driver’s licence and own vehicle;
- Have a certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent or a higher qualification (that meets requirements).
- Hold a current Working with Children Check.

**Remuneration**

A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with skills and experience. As Workskil Australia is a public benevolent institution, we can also offer a portion of the salary through tax effective salary packaging.
