**Who are we looking for?**
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer (Research) to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Health, Academic Division.
The Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer (Research) manages a small, agile technical services team who support the Faculty’s research endeavours. The Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer (Research) is responsible for coordinating the provision of effective, consistent and efficient research operations support within the Faculty’s research spaces and programs at Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point, as well research facilities at our distributed sites. They will accomplish this by providing specialist advice to senior managers and academic leaders, coordinating resources, managing staff, and by adopting a calm and consultative approach to achieving objectives and solving problems. The Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer (Research) is expected to work collaboratively across the Technical Services leadership team to regularly assess and review appropriate provision of staff, support specialist bioengineering and biomedical research equipment, routine maintenance and allocation of other resources against the changing needs of the University's dynamic research environments. The Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer (Research) is expected to provide operational expertise as well as maintain oversight of their team's effective, safe and sustainable operation of a range of research facilities and specialist equipment.

**What you need to succeed**

You will demonstrate:
1. Completion of a Mechanical Technology/Engineering degree or a higher degree with at least four years’ subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
2. Demonstrated ability to nurture and lead a high-performing, collaborative team committed to continuous improvement which actively works to understand and meet stakeholder requirements.
3. Demonstrated experience in managing laboratory operations or managing a specialist research support team providing scientific services.
4. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, written and verbal, in a variety of formats and for a variety of audiences, with evidence of strong and effective collaborations.
