About the team and role
Group Regulatory Compliance is part of the 2nd Line of Defence (LOD) and an independent function with responsibility for monitoring and overseeing the effectiveness of the Group’s compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for the oversight and setting of minimum standards for the end-to-end compliance lifecycle including management and reporting of compliance breaches, compliance monitoring, compliance plans, regulatory change and regulatory requests. The role requires an understanding of Privacy, together with general financial services regulatory requirements and the need to balance those requirements with the commercial needs and priorities of the business.

Experience, capabilities and qualifications
Significant technical knowledge and experience in understanding and interpreting legal and regulatory requirements and regulatory change
A deep understanding of Privacy compliance requirements and some exposure to other regulatory obligations
Ability to provide challenge and oversight in a constructive and professional manner
Ability to effectively anticipate, plan and manage change
Ability to work under broad direction, deal with competing demands, manage multiple initiatives and effectively manage expectations of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment
Knowledge of current compliance trends and topical issues within the financial services industry
Ability to contribute and work at both a strategic and operational level
At least five years’ experience in operational risk, compliance, legal or internal audit would be highly desirable
