**The Opportunity**:
Our Property Economics & Research (PER) team works at the cutting edge of property and urban economics analysis, combining economics and big data analytics to provide creative evidence - based answers to society's most challenging questions. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our PER Melbourne team.
We are looking for a bright and proactive economist to join our Melbourne Property Economics & Research (PER) team. You will have the opportunity to be part of the broader national PER team by undertaking research for consulting projects in the urban economics and sustainability, residential, retail, commercial, industrial and mixed-use sectors across the state and nationally. You will also have exposure to working alongside and collaborating with our other disciplines including urban planning, valuation, design and heritage.
The role will be supported by highly experienced Senior Consultants, Associate Directors and Directors whilst delivering high quality research, modelling and report writing.
**You will**:
- Undertake research and provide advice to government and private sector clients on city shaping projects.
- Manage and undertake field research to obtain preliminary data and knowledge across a wide range of sources and networks.
- Undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis from research materials.
- Support the provision of advice and developing analytical skills using economic tools, including economic modelling, costs benefit analysis, return on investment, highest and best use analysis and economic and social impact assessments.
- Regularly reviewing major research documents and data sources.
- Collating and analysing data for consulting assignments and assisting the team to deliver strategic property advice to clients.
- Providing inputs to draft proposals, tenders and submissions of potential projects.
- Develop capability in new methods of presenting and working with data
**About You**:
- A professional with up to 2 years relevant economic analysis, consulting or property sector experience.
- Tertiary qualifications in Property Economics, Economics, Statistics, Business/Finance or related discipline.
- An understanding of research processes, using both primary and secondary data sources.
- Able to use and develop excel based economic and financial models.
- Sound written and oral communication skills.
- Solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for learning and developing new skills.
- A familiarity and interest in developing skills in the Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
