**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 5 Security Policy and Governance Officer within Security Enabling Services Branch.
The Security Division is responsible for broader security functions that support the business of DPS protective security including security planning, capability, risk, policy and reporting. Security Enabling Services Branch works with many different Australian Parliament house (APH) security stakeholders, including the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the Department of the House of Representatives, the Department of the Senate, the Ministerial Wing Support, and other entities within the Parliamentary precincts.
As the Security Governance Officer, you play a pivotal role in fostering positive security culture at Australian Parliament House. You will provide administrative and secretariat support to various governance forums, manage information requests, and prepare internal reports and briefing papers. Your role will involve collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to foster effective working relationships and representing our branch and DPS at relevant meetings and forums.
**Who we are looking for**:
The successful applicant will be required to work closely with other sections of the Security Division along with various external stakeholders to manage staff in delivering security services. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to succeed in this role, along with the ability to establish, maintain and enhance stakeholder relationships, and provide administrative support.

**Job Specific Requirements**
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide professional and specialised advice to Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) executive on technical and operational security and governance matters and formulate balanced recommendations in relation to protective security activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic frameworks and policy that support effective protective security governance.
- Prepare high quality written correspondence and submissions to support the effective delivery of security services.
- Foster effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Branch and DPS at relevant meetings and forums.
- Undertake research, analysis and interpretation of overarching security policy to inform policy development and the provision of policy advice.
- Contribute to the coordination and support of other activities within the Section, including:
- security risk management
- compliance, performance monitoring and reporting
- supporting of oversight committees and DPS executive
- developing reports, briefs, project documentation and other correspondence
- Actively contribute to team culture and promoting a positive security culture at APH.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks including the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework.
