Role Summary

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Exercise Physiologist, SHIELD.

The Exercise Physiologist role will work closely with AFP employees to support them in achieving physical and mental wellbeing through prevention and management of a wide-range of health conditions. The role will provide support and solutions to clients that are exercise-based and include health and physical activity education, advice and lifestyle modifications with a strong focus on achieving behavioural change.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

Role Description & Responsibilities

**Specific duties of the role include but are not limited to**:
Develop and implement group and individually tailored exercise rehabilitation programs for the purpose of managing illness and/or injury and assist in restoring optimal physical function.
Develop and provide appropriate in-person and online consultations through telehealth and video exercise programing to prevent and manage health conditions.
Design, review, monitor, assess and evaluate fitness/treatment programs.
Perform functional capacity evaluations to identify injury risk and assist with the determination of operational readiness for staff with pre-existing conditions.
Assist in the development of technical reports for the Chief Medical Officer and AFP executive that help inform and drive initiatives to support the health and wellbeing of AFP employees.
Provide education to AFP employees and work areas around the health benefits of exercise.
Provide clinical oversight and quality assurance through clinical quality system design, practice review, ethics and governance, adverse event reporting and investigation
Actively contribute to the AFP Work Health Safety and Rehabilitation Management System by developing procedures, monitoring effectiveness, internal auditing, risk management and implementing change that meets organisational need and legislative requirements. This includes occupational task analysis, ergonomic assessment and testing, amending method of best practice based on clinical reasoning, and ensuring compliance with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) policy.
Assist geographical SHIELD teams as required including facilitating health and fitness services/classes.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based treatment for a wide range of clinical pathologies including those related to musculoskeletal health, cardiovascular health, and psychological health.
Liaise with internal and external health professionals and other relevant stakeholders within SHIELD and the AFP and represent the AFP in whole of government forums.
Essential Requirements

Current Australian Citizenship
Current NV1 (secret) security clearance, or ability to obtain one.
Current Exercise Physiologist accreditation through Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
Have experience as an AFP exercise physiologist and/or a minimum of five year’s post graduate experience
Experience with a wide-range of clinical populations
Exceptional skills in exercise prescription & programming
Excellent administration, reporting and record keeping skills
Current First Aid & CPR certificate, or ability to obtain
Demonstrated personal drive for excellence in the field
Ability to quickly establish effective rapport and tailor communication to audience
Demonstrated high level emotional intelligence
Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Current valid Australian driver’s licence
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in a large organisational setting
Research experience
Experience using Microsoft Office products
Availability to undertake domestic travel (if required
