The Family Services Team works in partnership with families to develop their parenting skills, increase awareness of the health, developmental, and safety needs of their children and improve community connection and family functioning.

As a Family Worker, you will be responsible for improving the wellbeing of children by supporting families with In-home casework services and through the provision of parenting groups

**About the Role**

- Provide case work and case management to families with complex issues including the development of family case plans that are regularly reviewed
- To organise and coordinate multiple agencies and services for the family, and the development of safety and risk plans where necessary
- Provide support and assistance to families by drawing on appropriate theoretical concepts and intervention skills paying particular attention to the physical, developmental, educational and safety needs of children.
- Respond in a timely and flexible manner to referrals for family work from internal and external sources including families, schools, primary care services, mental health, alcohol and drug services and The Orange Door.
- Knowledge and adherence to the Children, Youth and Families Act, 2005
- Highly developed knowledge of the Best Interest framework
- Highly developed theoretical knowledge of developmental ages and stages of children and adolescents, family dynamics and intergenerational patterns.

**Skills & Experience**

- Tertiary qualification in Social Work
- Complex Case management experience
- Highly developed intake, casework and assessment skills including relevant risk and needs assessments
- Knowledge and expertise in areas that significantly impact on family functioning, such as intergenerational abuse, mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency, trauma and family violence)
- Experience in assessment of family needs and referral to appropriate internal and/or external services.
- Excellent case coordination and case management skills dealing with complex families and multiple agencies.
- Specialised skills in the areas of parent education, child management and parenting strategies.
