This position will allow the successful applicants to complete a formal qualification in Engineering - Fitter. You will work with highly skilled supervisors and tradespeople to receive hands on learning and develop skills to maintain various plant and equipment.
**Once qualified you will be able to perform the following duties**:

- Perform routine inspections of all systems and equipment.
- Evaluate maintenance work orders, set priorities and process work assignments.
- Perform routine repair work and other work of a general maintenance nature.
- Establish and communicate the level of quality and safety expected in the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Maintaining focus on safety and safe working methods including JSAs, Risk Assessments, LOTO and permits to work
- Investigate failures and make recommendations to reduce risk and improve systems / processes
- Monitor and develop new maintenance schedules for equipment, plant, and other relevant data to identify faults
- Develops a functional understanding of all essential building systems to assure systems are operating correctly and efficiently

**About you**:

- Currently in 3rd or 4th year of study towards a trade qualification in Fitter/Machinist or Maintenance Fitter.
- Willingness to learn and develop the relevant skills
- Ability to follow instructions
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
- Commitment to study and complete your trade qualification
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in a safe manner in line with WHS requirements
- Punctuality and reliability
- Able to work a rotating roster and Saturdays as required
