The Policy and Officer will be supporting the delivery of quality, publishable reports and other material on racial discrimination and vilification and the best practice standards for organisations to prevent and respond to racial discrimination
The Policy and Research Officer will gather and critically analyse evidence related to these issues; and provide high quality, evidence-based and implementable policy advice to address the issues. This work will be able to guide the development of any future education and communication campaigns to tackle racism and vilifying conduct in the community.

**Some of your responsibilities will include**:

- Undertake complex, sensitive and best practice research in relation to human rights issues, racial and religious vilification and discrimination issues, including through:

- undertaking desktop research and analysis of documents and other evidence
- supporting expert interviews
- supporting the design and delivery of focus groups
- contributing to qualitative data analysis
- Contribute to the drafting of quality, publishable reports and other materials.
- Develop high quality briefs, policy documents, reports, and other materials in reference to racial vilification and discrimination.

**About You**:

- Knowledge and experience in policy and research, preferably in relation to equal opportunity and human rights issues. Experience in relation to racial vilification and discrimination is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Victoria's key human rights laws or demonstrated ability to obtain this quickly.
- Experience working on complex research, including designing research methodology, facilitating focus groups or expert interviews, analysing, and synthesizing data and report writing
