**Where you'll be working**
Maitland - a charming region with a rich history, emerging food scene, thriving arts community, boutique accommodation and packed events calendar. You'll find all this just two hours from Sydney or 35 minutes from Newcastle, on the banks of the picturesque Hunter River.

Maitland Hospital is a major Rural Referral Hospital providing services to the expansive Lower Hunter Region. Having opened its doors on a new facility in January 2022, the hospital provides a broad range of services in a comfortable and modern environment.

**What you'll be doing**

The primary purpose of the position is to provide safe and effective care to critically ill patients admitted to the Maitland hospital under appropriate supervision whilst developing expertise in critical care practice in a complex clinical environment. The trainee will gain procedural skills and receive foundational training according to CICM. The position is suited to a PGY 4 level trainee (or above) who is interested in pursuing a career in intensive care medicine.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role including a minimum of 6 months experience in Intensive Care Medicine.
- Demonstrated interest in a future career in Intensive Care Medicine or acute care (Emergency Medicine and Anaesthetics) and evidence of continued professional development and self-education in this area of practice.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise and demonstrated independent competence in ICU related clinical skills.
- Demonstrated high level of organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to convey information to both a clinical and non-clinical audience.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
