Specialist Teacher

**Role Description/Criteria**

Holy Name Primary School, Reservoir, is seeking a passionate and committed P.E. teacher (0.6 FTE) to teach Years Prep-6, and inspire children to explore a variety of sports and develop their skills.

The role is currently a fixed term position covering three days in the week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Ideally the successful applicant would be in a position to begin mid Term 2, however we are willing to negotiate a start date. While initially a fixed term position, there is a possibility of continuing in an ongoing capacity beyond 2025. Part of this time allocation also involves releasing classroom teachers outside of the regular specialist time. Qualifications and/or experience in the field of Physical Education is desirable, however not essential.

As a new member of our dynamic specialist team, we ask that the applicant is able to:

- Engage and support student learning in the area of Physical Education
- Engage students with high needs in the specialist program.
- Demonstrate classroom management strategies.
- Display a strong work ethic and possess strong communication skills.
- Liaise with external sporting providers e.g AFL Victoria, Hockey Australia, Netball Australia to provide clinics
- work with Sporting Schools grants to bring in a variety of sports and expert coaches for the students
- Show a willingness to work collaboratively with others on staff.
- Teach and assess the P.E and Health program according to the Victorian Curriculum.
- Promote Physical Education in the school and to the wider community.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy of Catholic education.
- Be committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in their care.

All Applicants must have:
Have a registration to teach with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.

Be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic School, or be prepared to gain accreditation should the position become permanent.

An understanding of Child Safety Standards and adhere to the Holy Name Code of Conduct and Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy.
