The Academic Coordinator (Foundation) is responsible for providing academic leadership and oversight of the Deakin College Foundation program. This includes all aspects of academic quality both in discipline-specific knowledge skills and attributes and the pedagogy, development and alignment of the course learning outcomes, learning activities and assessment of the Foundation program.

The Academic Coordinator (Foundation) assists to effectively manage the delivery of teaching and learning. This will include ensuring the Foundation program is coherent in design, planning, management, delivery and assessment, and provision of student academic advice and staff management.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee course design and assessment practices to foster progressive and coherent achievement of learning outcomes
- Implement or assist with changes in curriculum and foster innovative teaching and learning strategies
- Manage Foundation teaching staff and coordinate new staff induction
- Promote ongoing professional development of Foundation teaching staff in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles in their discipline
- Engage with Foundation teaching staff on curriculum, moderation and quality assurance
- Oversee examination processes, including moderation, benchmarking processes, exam marking and invigilators
- Ensure the delivery of course evaluation surveys, analysis and the provision of recommendations
- Map/track learning and student outcomes
- Contribute to College academic committee reports
- Provision of advice to students relating to the Foundation Program, academic policies and procedures, program progression, miscellaneous study, transition to University and other student academic matters
- Maintain strong and effective partner relationships
- Provide academic student advice
- Coordinate the timely production, quality control and publication of approved unit outlines
- Provide assistance to academic leadership in processing breaches of academic integrity
- Ensure the timely production and quality control of mid and final semester examination papers

**Qualifications**:

- Preferred post-graduate qualification
- Extensive experience teaching or coordinating at a foundation program level or for higher education diplomas in a university pathway program in the above-mentioned areas
- A comprehensive understanding of foundation program pathways and their articulation with university courses
- Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for a multicultural environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, independently and initiate change
- Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities and meeting deadlines
