**The Role**:
This position is managing the Pittsworth workshop. You will ensure maintenance of heavy and light vehicles, plant and equipment complies with road safety standards. Additionally, you will ensuring the workshop operations meet Work Health and Safety and Environmental Management principles.
You will be responsible for:
- A team of tradespeople working on correct maintenance, servicing and repair of councils fleet, plant, vehicles and equipment.
- Guidance, supervision and mentoring apprentice activities in the workshop.
- Exercise responsibility for work groups, maintaining quality of work and compliance with regulations, codes and specifications
- Responsibility for the maintenance program budget
- Manage all onsite employees by providing support and guidance and leading by example.
- Ensure all vehicles are scheduled in line with the site operation and that technicians produce clear and concise reports detailing all work carried out.
- Maintain a safe workshop area by practicing and promoting all OHS regulations ensuring standard operating procedures are adhered to.
- You may be required to participate in an after hours / on call roster system
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this role you will have:
Mandatory
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic Trades or Diesel Fitter qualification
- Previous supervision & scheduling skills/experience
- Excellent ability to impart acquired knowledge to both technicians and apprentices
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management skills
- WH&S Competency Card (or ability to obtain)
Desirable
- Current HR and/or LF Forklift license
- Current refrigerant handling licence (automotive)
