The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Prison Intelligence Unit Analyst to provide a critical role at HM Prison Barwon.

**About the Business Unit**

HM Prison Barwon is a maximum-security custodial facility located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne, and is part of the Barwon South West Regional structure. It is Victoria's major maximum-security prison for sentenced male individuals. HM Barwon officially opened in January 1990 and currently houses up to 416 men in custody, including high security, long term management, protection (including specialist protection), general mainstream (maximum security) and medium security people in custody.

**About the Role**

The position of Prison Intelligence Unit Analyst, HM Barwon, will be responsible for gathering, recording, analysing and disseminating information, with a specific focus on high security people in custody, to identify potential incidents/unrest, prevent escapes, and prevent the introduction and usage of contraband within the facility.

This position reports to the Supervisor, Prison Intelligence Unit, HM Barwon, and will contribute to both tactical and strategic intelligence functions and analyse and present intelligence information to management and authorised persons/external agencies as required.

As a Prison Intelligence Unit Analyst, some of your duties will include:

- Leading the collation, analysis, and controlled dissemination and reporting of intelligence information, specifically in relation to high security people in custody, to authorised parties, in a timely manner.
- Preparing and presenting intelligence briefings, and make high quality recommendations, in respect of the analysis of intelligence data, including the identification and evaluation of emerging threats, opportunities, patterns and trends relating to the activities of high security people in custody which affect the security and good order of the prison.
- Supporting facility management, staff and external agencies in the development and planning of intelligence-led prison operations.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Knowledge of the CV system, and key issues impacting the system.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems, preferably Palantir and/or other data managing technologies is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986, Corrections Regulations 1998 and the Serious Offenders Act 2018.

**Qualifications**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or thematic knowledge.
- An Australian Citizen Clearance.
- Staff must be trained to CVIS Introduction to Analysis level within six months of employment (internally available course).
- Working knowledge of the Centurion Intelligence System, E-Justice, PIMS, Microsoft Office and the Prisoner Telephone System would be highly regarded.
