We are looking for someone to start ASAP for a 12-month contract paying $46.51 p/h + Super.

**About the Role**

We are currently seeking to appoint a Biodiversity Officer. This position primarily responsible to provide specialist advice on ecological matters to inform development assessment and strategic biodiversity conservation programs.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- Act as representative for biodiversity correspondence.
- Undertake biodiversity assessments on nominated sites to inform development assessment processes.
- Provide strategic advice to inform biodiversity conservation policies and programs.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to the departments policies with regard to biodiversity conservation and maintenance.
- Contribute to the implementation of strategic biodiversity outcomes.
- Undertake the review of ecological assessments, Bushland management plans, Vegetation management plans, REF’s, SIS and other environmental assessment reports.
- Provide recommendations and establish conditions of consent with relation to ecological matters for development proposals.
- Other tasks as directed by the Natural Areas Coordinator or Manager Open Space Maintenance.
- The management of volunteers if required by the role.

**About You**
- Experience working in local government.
- Qualifications and experience in bush regeneration.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of reviewing biobanking assessments, offsetting and Biodiversity Assessment Reports (BDAR’s)
