**THE ROLE**
The Refugee Minor Program (RMP) is responsible for providing case management, supervision and support to young people from refugee backgrounds who are in Australia without parents. The Refugee Minor Program is a statewide service provided across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria. The Stronger Futures for Refugee Youth (SFRY) program supports young people between 16-21 years of age who are transitioning from the RMP'S case management program.
The SFRY Advanced Case Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining referral pathways and partnerships with community service organisations. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders in the youth services sector to ensure that young people from refugee backgrounds have access to the necessary resources and supports required to achieve their developmental potential and become confident young adults. Using an Advantage Thinking framework, you will support young people with developing skills, confidence and connections to community that will support their independence.
- Dandenong and Sunshine and also on occasion to provide support to young people residing in regional locations.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
1. Carry a case load of approximately 20 young people. This will vary dependent upon the required intensity of service for such clients.
2. Work directly with refugee background young people in a manner that is sensitive to issues pertaining to diversity of gender, race, religion and culture, in dealing with clients and their caregivers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This includes developing ways of engaging clients, some of whom may not have responded to traditional intervention.
3. Under general supervision, provide quality, timely and effective case practice and case management services within the established framework and operational policies. This includes conducting comprehensive assessments of the needs of young people and based upon these needs, developing case plan.
