Reporting to the Director Community, the Manager Aged and Community Support will play a key role in overseeing the health and wellbeing of the community, leading the provision of innovative and responsive aged and community support services to the Merri-bek community. With a firm commitment to remaining as a service provider in the aged and community support space and the financial sustainability to do so, Merri-bek Council is seeking a leader who can take their very reputable service offering and transform it in line with the looming aged care reform and funding changes. Leading a large in-house team, you will design the service delivery transformation and then deliver it, working collaboratively across the organisation to bring staff and the community along on the journey, delivering a level of service innovation that is unmatched, while ensuring smooth integration into existing Council programs.

To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic thinker with a community and customer focus. You will have a solid foundation in the operational aspects of running a community service program, but you understand that this role isn’t a service manager role - it’s an opportunity to lead a dedicated team through a large-scale transformation, and your experience has prepared you for all the strategic, policy, operational, and people-leadership challenges that this presents. Tertiary qualified in the human services or other relevant field, you will be courageous, able to drive a vision and purpose through challenging circumstances. Your strategic, policy, business and project planning skills are among your strengths, and your ability to connect with and influence staff and stakeholders at all levels will be key to your success.
