The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Manager, Commercial Advisory to provide a critical role within the Commercial Advisory and Projects Branch.

**About the business unit**

Commercial Advisory and Projects Branch provides Corrections Victoria (CV) with high quality and timely business support services in the areas of contract and project management, commercial, finance, asset management services and IT support.

The Contracts and Infrastructure Branch (CIB) is directly responsible for the contract management, performance monitoring and partner relationship with a number of major contracts on behalf of Corrections Victoria. This role is responsible for the strategic leadership of the Commercial Advisory portfolio and will be relied upon to provide sound commercial advice to senior stakeholders across the Department.

**About the role**

Reporting to the Director, Contracts and Infrastructure, the Manager, Commercial Advisory will provide leadership with a strong focus on driving innovation and continuous improvement and must ensure the State receives value for money for contracted services through the delivery of best practice contract administration and contemporary approaches to commercial advisory. The role will manage a team of contract management professionals.

Some of your duties will include:

- Lead the contract administration of the Commercial Advisory and Projects including delivery of the contract compliance framework, representing the CIB at various contractor meetings and managing the contractor relationship relating to operational, financial, and contractual issues that may emerge.
- Provide leadership and expert advice to the Director, Commissioner, Secretary and Minister through proactive management and resolution of possible and actual issues.
- Develop and present authoritative written documentation in relation to expert advice, briefings and other critical documentation on contractual and operational issues to senior management, including the Director, Commissioner, Secretary and Ministers.

The role will involve regular travel to prison locations and other sites where contracted services are being delivered and may require overnight travel.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience in the management of service contracts and the ability to prepare comprehensive reports including commercial and contractual analysis
- Extensive experience in contract administration for Public Private Partnerships, together with high level skills in the provision of commercial advice.
- An understanding of the corrections environment and the issues impacting prisoner transportation would be highly regarded.
