The purpose of the Accounts Manager position at Mincka Engineering is to oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. The role focuses on managing budgets, preparing forecasts, and conducting variance analyses to align financial performance with organizational goals, while providing insights for cost optimization. Additionally, the Accounts Manager ensures compliance with Australian tax regulations, including GST, PAYG, and BAS submissions, and liaises with auditors and regulatory authorities to maintain adherence to statutory requirements. This position also involves monitoring cash flow, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and supporting strategic decision-making through data-driven financial advice and resource allocation planning.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Financial Operations**
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including:
- Accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Payroll administration, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
- Bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
2. Manage cash flow by monitoring inflows and outflows, preparing forecasts, and ensuring adequate liquidity.
3. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including:
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Comprehensive financial reports for management review.
4. Develop and maintain budgets, prepare forecasts, and conduct variance analyses to compare actual performance with projections.
**Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities**
5. Ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations, including:
- GST (Goods and Services Tax) submissions.
- PAYG (Pay As You Go) withholding and instalments.
- BAS (Business Activity Statements) preparation and lodgment.
6. Liaise with external auditors, regulatory authorities, and financial institutions to ensure adherence to statutory and financial reporting requirements.
7. Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting frameworks.
**Strategic Financial Planning**
8. Provide data-driven financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and organizational growth.
9. Assist in resource allocation planning, ensuring alignment with financial goals and priorities.
10. Identify opportunities for cost optimization and recommend efficiency improvements in financial processes.
11. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for financial operations.
**Team Leadership and Collaboration**
12. Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members to build a high-performing department.
13. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with operational strategies.
14. Communicate financial updates and reports to senior management in a clear and actionable manner.
**System and Process Improvement**
15. Implement and maintain accounting software and systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
16. Review and refine financial processes, policies, and procedures to ensure best practices and operational excellence.
**Selection Criteria**
**Laboral experience**
- At least 3 year's demonstrated accounting and finance experience.
**Academic formation**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (essential).
**Competencies**
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or similar).
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Analytical and Strategic Thinking:
- Ability to interpret financial data to provide actionable insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to identify cost optimization opportunities.
Compliance and Attention to Detail:
- High level of accuracy in financial reporting and tax submissions.
- Knowledge of Australian financial regulations and statutory requirements.
