Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class 'ETCS' signalling system.

About the Role
The New Gold Coast Stations (NGCS) package of works includes the delivery of three new rail stations on the Gold Coast Line at Pimpama, Hope Island and Merrimac. These projects will include parking, pedestrian and cycle path connections, platform access, integration to existing public transport networks, lighting, and CCTV.
The Design Manager - NGCS is responsible for management of the technical and design aspects of the New Gold Coast Stations Program, through design, procurement, construction and handover. This position is part of the NGCS leadership team and reports directly to the NGCS Engineering Manager and leads the design and technical function of the project.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Lead the NGCS technical team to develop and manage project scope and technical requirements for the design of the NGCS Project.
- Ensure D&C contractor compliance in accordance with project sponsor requirements, standards, specifications and Queensland Rail SEMS management system.
- Manage all design activities from preliminary design development through to detailed and final design including value engineering, interactive D&C contractor workshops, design package coordination, version control and stakeholder distribution.
- Manage, review and prioritise the D&C contractors design package schedule and resources to ensure project deliverables and timelines are achieved.
- Manage technical disputes, design clarifications or scope definition with best for project outcome.
- Lead design reviews and work with design coordinator to ensure stakeholders comments are managed.
- Manage the technical advisor and or independent certifier (or similar).
- Project management with accurate and authoritative advice on technical risks and issues to support decision making.
- Coordination with other relevant projects within Gold Coast region and on the Gold Coast rail line.
- Represent the DA at forums, committees, and interactive workshops, ensuring effective negotiation and resolution of significant issues.

About You

**The successful applicant will have the following**:

- Demonstrated senior management-level experience in successfully managing the design development, review, and approval process from inception to completion for rail stations or similar infrastructure.
- Degree in Engineering with 10+ years' experience (RPEQ preferred)
- Strong relationship and negotiation skills with a proven track record in effectively managing complex and highly sensitive negotiations with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing and maintaining a 'safety first' culture.
