Our client based in Perth is looking for a public information manager for a temporary period. This is a great opportunity to work within a government department.

**Your new role**

During this role you will be required to:

- Work closely with the incident controller to ensure clear understanding of the public information requirements
- Oversee the development of operational guidelines relevant to incident response
- Identify resourcing requirements and establish the public information function
- Allocate responsibilities and tasks across the team
- Lead the team in preparation and distribution of timely media releases
- Liaise with public information officers and local control centres
- Assist the incident controller to liaise with the delegating authority, other agencies involved in the incident response and local and jurisdictional governments
- Obtain information on the current and projected incident situation from the planning section and external sources
- Ensuring all documents are filed in the appropriate electronic and hard-copy formats
- Undertake emergency response duties as required
- Any other duties as required

**What you'll need to succeed**

Experience in the similar position required but also:

- Experience in the delivery of communications/ public information function to effectively deliver to complex projects or program outcomes
- Exposure to and understanding of incident and emergency management processes and systems
- Knowledge of the agricultural and/or aquatic sector and biosecurity threats
- Knowledge of the public information management of significant and complex emergency responses
