**The Opportunity**
The Marine Safety Coordinator is accountable to the Manager, Marine Safety and Compliance for contributing to and maintaining an effective safety compliance and enforcement objectives relating to marine transport. The role coordinates state-wide water-based and land-based patrols to assess compliance with the standards required under boating legislation and relevant Codes of Practice, enforcement and investigation, including proposed policy/legislative changes and marketing and public education campaigns. This includes detections of breaches of legislation and the coordination of timely and effective investigations into reported incidents.

The role will implement and promote strategies for targeting non conformers including the establishment of major, joint and inter-regional safety compliance programs and campaigns in consultation with other government agencies including SAPOL, SafeWork SA, local and state government agencies and comprehensive knowledge of government policy, procedures and administrative law processes.

**Qualifications/Licenses**
- A current driver’s licence is essential.
- Coxswain Grade 1 NC Certificate of Competency is essential. Certificate 4 in Statutory Compliance.
- **Special Conditions**
- A National Police Check (NPC) which must be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

Normal hours of duty will be 150 hours to be worked over a four (4) week period including a minimum of 26 weekends (26 Saturdays and 26 Sundays) and six (6) public holidays per year for which penalty rates will apply.

Must wear Agency uniform as required.

Must be suitable to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under relevant State and Commonwealth Acts.

May be required to work at various locations within the State.

In the event of an emergency, any staff member of Marine Services may be required to assist in response and recovery activities. This may potentially include long hours and challenging work conditions.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

**Tenure of Vacancy**
Temporary appointment up to 12 months.

**Remuneration**
OPS5 - $82,090 to $87,758 pa + superannuation.
