**The opportunity**:
We're looking for a **Principal, Medical Affairs & Clinical Governance**to lead transformative change in the Australian healthcare system. This is a unique opportunity to influence national healthcare strategy, drive innovation, and improve outcomes for millions of Australians.
As a key member of the Healthcare Management (HCM) Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across:
- ** Clinical operations and governance** for Bupa Health Insurance, Bupa Telehealth, and Bupa Wellness.
- ** Medical assessment of claims**, ensuring clinical integrity and excellence.
- ** Collaborative initiatives** with private hospitals to develop and implement new models of care.
- ** Healthcare strategy and delivery**, contributing medical insights to shape Bupa’s future direction.
In this role, you’ll build and nurture strategic partnerships with clinicians, providers, and government agencies to champion innovative care models and influence policy.

This permanent _**_full-time position can be based in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, or Adelaide. When you’re not on site visiting our hospital partners, you will have the flexibility to work from home, or from one of our offices in the city in any of these locations._**
**To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have**:
- Current AHPRA registration.
- 5+ years of clinical experience working in a hospital environment.
- 5+ years’ experience of corporate experience, including stakeholder management with government, hospitals, and professional bodies (preferably within the Health Insurance industry).
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams with a focus on coaching and development.
- Strong understanding of business operating models, organisation design, and budget oversight.
- Highly developed networking and stakeholder engagement skills, with political acumen.
**How will I help?**
You will add value by:
- Creating, developing, implementing, and maintaining robust clinical governance frameworks, policies, and practices for Bupa Health Insurance (HI), Bupa Telehealth, Bupa Wellness and third-party healthcare provider contracting ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation processes.
- Collaborating with respective stakeholders to ensure all third-party providers are compliant with member/patient clinical quality, safety risks outcomes and these are documented and managed accordingly.
- Supporting clinical due diligence assessments of potential new healthcare propositions and third-party providers.
- Staying informed of healthcare regulations and standards and communicate updates to clinicians in Health Programs.
- Working collaboratively with clinicians and stakeholders to identify and mitigate clinical risks.
- Ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, professional guidelines, and best practices for all relevant clinical areas.
- Attending and participating in the Bupa Health Insurance Risk Committee and coordinate action plans to meet local and global regulatory obligations (e.g., ICRMA).
- Presenting clinical governance papers and contribute to other risk and governance committees when required to relevant Boards.
- Providing expert advice and arbitrate complex customer claim cases in collaboration with the Customer Advocate.
- Collaborating with the GM Hospital & Medical Partnerships and other internal stakeholders, interfacing with key stakeholders including hospital groups, medical associations, industry bodies, and government (state and federal).
- Representing Bupa HI as Medical Advisor at appropriate forums.
