Vetwest South Perth has a Cats In The City boarding facility as part of the hospital so this position is a unique combination of an Animal Attendant role to help us take care of our boarding cats and as well as can be a trainee nursing role to assist the nurses and veterinarians in the hospital when necessary.

The staff here area amazing and lovely to work with. Very open and friendly, plus who doesn't like working with Cats

The position involves cleaning and care of boarding Cats and patients including feeding, cleaning condo's, medicating, putting the cats out for time in the play pen, admitting and discharging cats. During the day you will also be assisting the veterinary nurses with general hospital maintenance duties and animal handling procedures and general cleaning duties including preparation for the next day's surgery and consultations, cage and kennel maintenance, cleaning of surgical instruments and pack preparation.

But your main role will be predominantly with the Cats. There is also general cleaning each day such as laundry washing, hanging out towels/bedding etc and folding and putting away once dry. Someone who has a good attention to detail and who works to the best of their ability daily would be perfect. This job is a physical job so someone who does not like sitting around.

Aptitudes and Skills Required
- Versatile with a willingness to learn
- Be able to show initiative and common sense
- Possess excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a team environment

Hours involved for this position:

- One day per week and every 4th weekend
- Hours: 7.30am-6pm
- Saturday and Sunday on your weekend: 8am - 3.30pm

Vetwest offers supportive and extensive training and induction programs in a friendly team orientated environment. Some experience within the veterinary profession and with client interaction would be preferred but is not essential.

This position may suit individuals wishing to gain entry into the veterinary industry or perhaps are currently enrolled in Certificate III in Animal Studies or Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
