**About the role**

The Downer Business Services Centre (BSC) provides Accounting and Administration Support services to all Downer Lines of Business. Within the BSC, the Purchase to Pay function operates a high-volume processing, payments and resolution environment that leverages on leading edge technology, capabilities, knowledge and experience of our people.

An exciting full-time 9 month fixed term opportunity has become available for a Payments & Reconciliations Officer within the Purchase to Pay Team based at North Ryde in Sydney.

As a Payments Officer, you will be responsible for the day to day delivery of all assigned payment related tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures and Service Level Agreements. You will be responsible for:

- Ensuring the AP Payment tasks in relation to domestic and foreign currency payments are executed in line with the operating procedures and compliant to the accounting policies/procedures as per The Downer Standards.
- Effective management of payment tasks ensuring deadlines are met whilst complying with legislative requirements and the business approval matrix.
- Maintaining appropriate levels of control to manage financial risks
- Reconciliation of payment transactions and active resolution of enquiries.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and any other tasks as assigned by the Payments Manager.

**What you’ll bring**
- 3-5 years Accounts Payable experience within a large company and in a team environment
- Experience in managing domestic and foreign currency payments
- Experience in working with ERP systems and banking platforms (JDE and SAP preferred)
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance or related discipline highly regarded
