**The Opportunity**
**Lead a cutting-edge genomics research platform and drive innovation**
The **Genomics Node Manager** is a senior leadership role at the **Monash Genomics and Bioinformatics Platform (MGBP)**,**responsible for overseeing the operations, strategic direction, and business development of the Genomics Node. Reporting to the Scientific Director, you will lead a team of approximately six staff, manage a $2.54M budget, and ensure the delivery of high-quality research services, training, and education.
This full-time, onsite position requires a strong leader with technical expertise in genomics, particularly spatial and single-cell technologies, and a proven ability to develop and implement business models for sustainable research infrastructure.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Strategic Leadership** - Develop and implement the Genomics Node’s operational and business strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability and cutting-edge service offerings
- **Research & Technology** - Collaborate with researchers to provide expert genomics support, guiding experimental design and technology selection
- **Stakeholder Engagement** - Establish and maintain high-level relationships with national and international research networks, funding bodies, and industry partners
- **Business Development** - Drive service expansion, introduce new genomics technologies, and secure funding from government and external sources
- **Team Leadership** - Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and service
- **Financial & Risk Management** - Oversee budget allocation, compliance, quality assurance, and operational efficiency
**About You**:
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in genomics or a related field
- Extensive technical expertise in genomics technologies, including spatial and single-cell genomics
- Strong management experience, with the ability to develop and lead a high-performing team
- Highly desirable ability to build partnerships, influence stakeholders, and secure funding
- Exceptional strategic planning, problem-solving, and business development skills
