**About the Centre**

The Boroondara Sports Complex (BSC) is a large sports centre, housing three outdoor pools include a heated 50 metre lap pool which is open year round, a shaded seasonal program pool, and a seasonal dive pool with a five metre dive tower and one and three metre springboards. We run over 60 group fitness classes each week, offer year-round outdoor swimming, host indoor sports competitions in our stadiums, and provide child care services in a safe and engaging environment.

**About the role**

The Boroondara Sports Complex (BSC) is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Lifeguard Team

The summer casual position will have you working in a team of up to 5 lifeguards at one time, supervising our three pools. This role offers flexible working hours, suitable for those studying or with sporting commitments. There is also potential opportunities for job progression, and the ability to work at other sites across the Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities.

Duties of the role include:

- Ability to supervise a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area
- Maintain concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
- Ensure facility rules are being obeyed whilst at the same time educating facility users about safe aquatic practices.
- Carry out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

This is a casual position and the hourly rate is $29.44 + Super.

**About you**
- Ability to make decisions while under pressure
- Being able to manage conflicts with patrons and users
- Ability to stay alert and vigilant in a repetitive work environment
- Ability to multitask
- Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests

**Essential Qualifications**
- Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR certificate

In keeping with current Victorian health directions it is a requirement that staff attending our facilities are fully vaccinated. Please be aware that you will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the recruitment process.
