**Position Information**:
Narara Valley High School is a comprehensive high school on the Central Coast of approximately 740 students including 87 Aboriginal students. Our Support Unit is an integral part of our school community and is comprised of 6 classes. The school caters for students of all ability levels and has developed a reputation for its strong focus on academic achievement, wellbeing and supporting community aspirations and needs.
The school runs specialist programs in Creative and Performing Arts and Targeted Sport, alongside a range of extra curricular activities. In addition to this, the school also has a Young Parents Program and an extensive wellbeing and learning and support team. The school has highly valued partnerships with the Cooinda AECG and other community organisations which further support the school's educational, wellbeing and transition programs. Our PBL values of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best are embedded in all aspects of school life.
Strategic priorities for Narara Valley High School include literacy, numeracy, HSC attainment, high rates of student attendance and engagement, evidence based pedagogies and learning partnerships.
Narara Valley High School aims to develop students who are achieving their personal best academically and who are known, valued and cared for in a welcoming and inclusive school environment.
**Selection Criteria**:
Approval to teach English 7-10, English 11-12, Approval and/or willing to teach English Ext 1 and 2
Demonstrated knowledge of the English curriculum 7 to 12 and ability to work collaboratively with an innovative English faculty in designing and implementing highly engaging, inclusive teaching programs that foster a culture of excellence.
Highly developed classroom management skills to establish effective routines and structures that support the well-being and learning of a diverse range of students.
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with parents, students, colleagues and the broader school community.
Demonstrated ability to drive improvement in student outcomes through the use of evidence-based and data-informed teaching practices and capacity to provide timely, meaningful and explicit feedback on student learning in a variety of forms.
