**Position Information**:
Bankstown Public School is a large multicultural school of 760 students and is located within the CBD of Bankstown. 98% of students are from non-English speaking backgrounds and 7 are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. There are currently 48 language backgrounds with 29% speaking Arabic, 17% speaking Vietnamese and 12% speaking Urdu.
The staff at Bankstown Public School are a highly committed and diverse group of experienced and early career teachers. There are 29 mainstream classes and a Support Unit consisting of 2 IO/AU classes, an AU class and an IM class. The school has a Community Hub coordinator who works with the community to build parent capacity to support student learning. BPS has very strong student welfare programs and the school supports a Playtime program for preschool aged students and their parents and continues to foster and build community participation and support.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
1. Proven ability to lead effective curriculum implementation.
2. The capacity to develop an inclusive school culture, which recognises diversity and strengthens positive relationships across the whole school community.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the organisational roles of a Deputy Principal in a large complex setting, with a focus on whole school organisation and wellbeing.
4. An approachable, visible leader with highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to harness the collective voice of staff to support the Strategic Improvement Plan.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
