**Role Description/Criteria**

**OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE**

The Head of Applied Learning Pathways is a key leader in the implementation of the Learning and Teaching Framework and the Educational Strategic Plan at Padua College. In partnership with the Director of Innovation and the Learning and Teaching Team, they set the direction for student learning throughout the senior years in the area of applied learning, ensuring every student’s opportunities for success are maximised. They provide support in curriculum development and lead a learning environment that enables staff and students to strive for growth and personal excellence in recognising and utilising their God-given talents.

Effective leadership of learning and teaching explicitly connects high-quality teaching to student engagement, successful learning, and positive student outcomes. At the Year 10-12 Campus, the Head of Applied Learning Pathways will work closely with the Learning and Teaching Team to build capacity, guide, and support staff across the applied learning programs to ensure that every student’s learning positions him or her for success. The position is focused on leadership of applied learning pathways including program development, evaluation and refinement, and leading innovation in learning design, implementation, and evaluation.

All Victorian education certificates are valuable and recognise the importance of flexible, personalised learning pathways being offered to Padua students as they contemplate post-compulsory secondary school and post-school options. The role of the Head of Applied Learning Pathways, in conjunction with the Senior Pathways Team is to ensure the provision of the best possible pathway for each student to enable successful transitions into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training, or directly into employment.

The Head of Applied Learning Pathways has specific responsibilities in relation to the oversight of individual student’s programs in the area of VCE VM, Structured Workplace Learning and VPC, which maximise learning opportunities through the provision of an innovative, strategic curriculum that ensures student engagement and development of high-quality skills. The Head of Applied Learning Pathways is responsible for the development and fostering of effective partnerships and relationships with industry, community, and business organisations. The Head of Applied Learning Pathways is a key member of the Senior Pathways Team and reports directly to the Vice Principal - Learning and Teaching and is guided by the Assistant Head of Campus - Learning and Pedagogy.

**MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

The responsibilities of the Head of Applied Learning Pathways include but are not limited to:
i. overseeing Individual Student Pathway Programs including VCE VM/VPC units, Work Placement and VET options;
ii. supporting the development and delivery of the Applied Learning programs at Padua College for Years 10-12;
iii. building staff capacity in applied learning pedagogy in the VCE VM, VPC and ALP;
iv. representing and promoting Applied Learning within the College Community as a Senior School Pathway;
v. maintaining Applied Learning administration including Student Enrolment; Record Keeping Procedures; VCAA Quality Assurance; relevant MOUs/Contracts with external providers; and

vi. performing other duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.
