The Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE) aims to foster staff productivity, growth, and engagement in order to enrich the impact of education on society. Through their research and teaching efforts, MGSE strives to transform educational practices within and beyond the profession. As a research institution, MGSE provides research leadership by setting the direction for high-impact, innovative, and responsive research that addresses pressing societal issues.
Melbourne Assessment, a social enterprise initiative within MGSE, is headed by Executive Director, Enterprise Professor Sandra Milligan. It's mission revolves around collaborating with industry partners to conduct research, development, and implementation of reliable and innovative products and services for schools, education institutions, and industry bodies. The unit emphasises pioneering approaches to assessment and recognition policies and practices, particularly in relation to complex competencies.
**About the Role**
The Professional Learning Facilitator, operating within Melbourne Assessment, holds the responsibility of collaboratively designing, delivering, and continually enhancing professional learning programs. Their expertise lies in the realms of teaching, assessment, and school leadership, which they leverage to create programs that align with strategic objectives. The facilitator's primary focus is to meet the unique needs and expectations of clients, integrating up-to-date research and best practices into the program development process. They develop a comprehensive understanding of Melbourne Assessment's initiatives and actively seek opportunities to unite professional learning programs with other related initiatives. Ultimately, their goal is to provide tailored and impactful education programs that contribute to the overall objectives of Melbourne Assessment.
Responsibilities include:
- Design professional learning programs, including co-designing, reviewing, developing and refining content and materials for online and face-to-face delivery, which reflect contemporary research and best-practice.
- Deliver professional learning to cohorts of educators, to meet the expectations of clients and participants.
- Collaborate with relevant external education and community stakeholders, including clients, building strategic partnerships in aligned areas.
- Liaise with thought leaders and other team members to contribute effectively to programs.

**About You**
To be successful in this role, you should possess excellent teaching abilities, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality instruction in schools and in the areas of assessment, educational improvement, or educational leadership. You should exhibit exceptional organisational skills, prioritise effectively, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands. Additionally, you should demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, building and managing relationships with diverse individuals and groups, and showcase strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to staying updated with contemporary theories and best practices in adult learning.
You will also have:
- Postgraduate qualifications, a doctoral degree (preferred) or substantial progress towards it, in education, teaching, educational leadership or management or related field, as well as professional qualifications in teaching.
- Evidence of a high-quality teaching record in the area of assessment, educational improvement, or educational leadership in either professional learning programs for teachers and/or school leaders, or tertiary teacher or school leader education.
- Extensive understanding of the K-12 educational system in Australia.
