**Job Location**

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. We address the needs of people experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community. These services are delivered through inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison-based services at several locations. This position will be required to work across all Forensicare sites.

**About the Role**:
**Duties**:

- Oversees the planning, development and management of the clinical education of psychologists employed by Forensicare.
- Provides specialist training on topics related to clinical/forensic psychological practice, including contribution to the orientation program for new psychologists.
- Assists the Psychology Educator team in overseeing the professional supervision program and the provision of direct clinical/forensic supervision to psychologists where this is required
- Provides expert consultation and advice to programs/multi-disciplinary teams and clinicians regarding complex clinical forensic cases.
- Ensures that psychology education services complement, and are integrated with, Forensicare’s strategic plan, Model of Care and program activities.
- Contributes to the development of policy, protocols and procedures pertaining to the delivery of education in the field of clinical forensic psychology.
- Contributes to a positive learning culture at Forensicare, including interdisciplinary training initiatives.

**About You**:

- More than ten years’ experience with demonstrated, highly developed clinical leadership skills, extensive postgraduate, professional experience and, recognized professional specialisation.
- Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, OR, Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology or equivalent from an APAC accredited course.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practioners’ Registration Agency (AHPRA).
- A Supervisor approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Have demonstrated clinical experience and advanced knowledge to be able to provide education and teach other psychologists and/or students.
- Endorsement by the Psychologists’ Registration Board of Australia in either clinical or forensic psychology.
- Extensive postgraduate psychology experience at a senior level in mental health or forensic mental health, or other relevant setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery in a forensic context.
- Proven ability to effectively manage, develop and evaluate a psychology service.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and motivational skills.
- Proven experience in the management of professional development and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Extensive knowledge of the current psychological approaches in working with clients experiencing mental illness within a forensic setting.
- Extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system, the mental health system, the forensic mental health system and the relevant legislation.
- High level of communication skills including in the delivery of education and consultation services.
- Demonstrated experience in high level strategic advice in relation to service development and practice within a complex organisational setting.
- Proven ability to supervise students and staff.
- Demonstrated experience conducting empirical research and engaging in other scholarly work.
