The Manager - Technical Engineering has responsibility for leading the Victorian Health Building Authority's (VHBA) Engineering Unit. The role will be responsible for leading an engineering team that provides expert technical leadership across all VHBA health care capital infrastructure, advice and guidelines and capital programs, ensuring engineering objectives are achieved for the Department of Health.

This role will provide Technical Engineering expertise across a range of engineering capabilities. Working closely within a multi-disciplinary team of engineering, the role will be the primary source of Technical Engineering related advice. Working with multiple stakeholders, this role will consult with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders influencing key project decisions.

The role will provide technical advice to key stakeholders during the project's lifecycle from masterplan through to detailed design and capture benefits of building sustainable and resilient hospitals. The role will develop and maintain comprehensive technical guidance on Technical Engineering related matters within capital works and represent VHBA on relevant working groups and forums.

You will be a highly focused and driven person who is passionate about contributing to the delivery of public infrastructure and driving exceptional outcomes. You will be a qualified engineer with experience working within large infrastructure projects.

**Accountabilities**
- Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations, and innovative solutions to Technical Engineering into the healthcare capital program from masterplan through to detailed design.
- Build the Technical Engineering capability of VHBA staff and other key stakeholders through developing and maintaining comprehensive technical guidance and delivering training programs.
- Work effectively within a complex multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure Technical Engineering solutions are integrated in the capital program, ensuring alignment on design, whole-of-life costs, and constructability.
- Aligns the team with the organisational values and goals through effective people management and modelling; maximises effectiveness by selecting, developing, managing, and motivating a high performing team, clearly defines role expectations, monitors performance, provides timely and constructive feedback and facilitates employee development; ensures staff are effectively deployed through effective workforce planning practices.
- Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring, or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
