**The Opportunity**:
The need to minimise the impact of infrastructure and development projects on the biophysical and social environment is increasing, and WSP is at the forefront of proactive environmental planning, impact assessment and project approvals facilitation in this area.

As such, WSP is growing our NSW Planning and Approvals capability to meet growing client demand. We’re looking to hire two Graduate or impending Graduate **Planning / Environmental Scientists** in **Newcastle** to support the current team.

You will be involved in small to large environmental and regional planning projects including environmental assessments, environmental approvals, due diligence advice, planning approvals and authorisations/permits as well as preparing proposals and providing advice to clients.

You will develop internal and external relationships, play a role in work-winning initiatives, and have a desire to build your professional brand in the NSW market.

You will have a passion for working with government agencies and the private sector to deliver environmental planning assessments and approvals that maintain and create liveable urban and regional communities.

In addition, you will bring some understanding or interest to gain knowledge and skills in the following areas:

- Planning and environmental legislation, policy, and reform directions in NSW
- Project management or project coordination experience, particularly with approvals pathway planning and the coordination of specialists on environmental impact assessment/planning approval projects
- Ability to distil complex information, think strategically and translate that thinking into practical solutions
- Developing writing skills, with a desire to gain experience preparing policies, strategies, plans and reports
- A passion for resolving environmental issues and a desire to help shape outcomes in our community.
