**The role**
In this position, you’ll lead strategic initiatives designed to improve outcomes for Aboriginal communities across NSW, providing expert cultural advice and overseeing projects aligned to key departmental priorities. You’ll guide project teams through each phase of the process, creating business cases, setting up governance structures, allocating resources, and monitoring progress to ensure each initiative is completed on time and within budget. By implementing effective evaluation frameworks and risk management practices, you’ll help build a portfolio of impactful projects that drive measurable success in collaboration with Aboriginal communities and entities.

A central challenge in this role is fostering trust and productive partnerships with diverse Aboriginal stakeholders, while navigating a high-demand workload with often limited resources. You'll act as a cultural advisor, supporting stakeholders in adopting Aboriginal perspectives and cultural protocols, particularly when issues are complex or politically sensitive. By bridging departmental objectives with community needs, you’ll help ensure Aboriginal perspectives are fully integrated and that strategies are impactful, sustainable, and respectful of cultural integrity.

**What you will bring to the role**
- Provide expert cultural advice and information to stakeholders on emerging issues
- Manage stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management
- Guide and manage a team to deliver all key project milestones and outcomes
- Oversee research, reporting and data analysis to enhance decision-making and credibility of the department

**What is an essential requirement**:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
