**Manager Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title**
**-**
**13H9**
**Primary Location** WA-Perth - Inner-John Tonkin Water Centre - Leederville
**Organization** Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title
- ** Lead the Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title team for Water Corporation**:
- **Support and develop a cohesive team of people to do their best work**:
- **Help us to engage effectively with Aboriginal communities**
**This position relates to Section 50 (d) of the West Australian Equal Employment Opportunity Act 1984, where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position**
- Aboriginal people have been the custodians for over 60,000 years. We have much to learn from them about our land, waterways and communities in order to protect our most precious resource.
- We are committed to creating meaningful employment and training pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across all roles and levels. For us, it is important that our people are representative of our communities in which we live and work. We are also committed to achieve this through our Reconciliation Action Plan and our Yesterday, Today Tomorrow Strategy.
We know that water is essential for our future and the giver of life. In every Water Corporation role, you’ll have the chance to develop a career and help your community. We seek people who want to make a change for the better.
**About the role**
- When was the last time you significantly impacted someone’s life? How would you feel if you could do it every day for thousands of people?
- As the leader of Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title, you’ll play the leading role in developing and bringing a team together. You and your team will help Water Corporation meet its Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title responsibilities and identify opportunities to benefit Aboriginal people and communities. You’ll also support Water Corporation’s overarching Yesterday, Today Tomorrow - Aboriginal Engagement Strategy and its initiatives.
- Your approach to leadership is highly sort after and without question. You’ll be inspiring your team to become trusted advisors in their chosen fields. As a team, you’ll further Water Corporation’s strategic objectives related to Aboriginal Heritage & Native Title management, built off positive relationships with Aboriginal traditional owners, communities, and organisations.
- Your approach to coaching people on Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title matters means you’ll be constantly empowering your team to develop their knowledge. In turn, you’ll raise a team of committed people, whose natural desire is to provide what’s best for Aboriginal people.
- 12 months from now? You’ll have steered a unified team to define best practice and deliver a high-quality service that will support future generations. Under your guidance, your team will have built a centre of expertise that enables Water Corporation to achieve its business priorities.
- Ultimately, your work will connect Western Australian communities with a vital resource, while continuing to build the reputation of a team that’s helping remote Aboriginal communities get access to clean, running water every day.
**What the role will offer you**
- At Water Corporation we offer a number of employee benefits, development & training, and flexible working, providing you an opportunity to work a mix of both home and at our office in Leederville. We also have 9 day fortnight options available, creating a better balance for you.
Your team is ambitious. They’ll look to you for direction on a few matters, so this is an opportunity for you to give them a safe place to gain new perspectives, offer them a deeper level of learning, and empower them. Imagine creating the type of environment where you’re helping people navigate everyday challenges while improving their professional and personal lives.
**About you**
- You’re a natural leader of people. With your coaching and support, you know how to give people the freedom to do their best work. Your empathetic approach means you’re comfortable with bringing people along on a journey that’s important to them, as much as it is to you.
- Your high-level of expertise in Aboriginal Heritage and Native Title management allows you to look ahead and identify potential issues and risks. You know how to prioritise important work that aligns with a company’s overall Aboriginal Engagement Strategy, ensuring you and your team can comfortably navigate through any changes and challenges. It’ll be your consultative and transparent approach that gives people absolute clarity about where their work sits within the bigger picture.
- Your clear understanding of Aboriginal protocols and the relationships you’ve built with Aboriginal communities and organisations will support you and your team and raise the Corporation’s connection with the Indigenous Peoples of Western Australia.
