Junior Trainee Dental Assistant + Receptionist Role

It would be a Full-Time position, however we are open to discuss part-time or casual roles if you prefer. Days would be a combination of 4-6 days ranging from Mon-Sat (Sat only half day in the mornings). Days are a little flexible depending on if shifts can be covered amongst the other staff members.

Your main role will be split between dental assisting and the receptionist. You will be provided on-site training for both roles, so no experience will be required for the position. Great customer service is expected for to your duties as a receptionist, so any experience in customer service or receptionist duties in the past will be well received (but not essential).

No prior experience in dental assisting or receptionist is required. If you do have experience, that would be taken into consideration.

Your main role would include:

- Chair-side dental assisting for the Dentist, which includes learning all the steps and materials/instruments required for each procedure
- Maintaining cleanliness of the surgery, and having immaculate infection control
- Sterilisation of instruments
- Greeting patients
- Making and changing patient appointments
- invoicing and making health insurance claims for patients
- managing EFTPOS payments
- Making phone calls for the day-to-day running of the clinic.

At certain times, you will be responsible for taking all phone calls during your work hours, so being comfortable speaking to people over the phone is a must for this position. We are a clinic that aims to be friendly with all patients, so having a warm and professional demeanor would be well regarded. Having any customer service experience in the past will be very well regarded.

For this position, you must have the following skills and attributes:

- Be a people person
- Be very comfortable speaking to people over the phone
- Be able to use the computer and phones well - for our practice management software - we will provide training for this
- Follow instructions and set protocols consistently, but also have the flexibility to adapt when non-standard situations arise.
- Be a quick thinker, and good problem solver
- Good organisation skills - have a method to all approaches so everything can be replicated routinely so no tasks are missed or forgotten.

Wages will be based off experience, and would be in accordance to the health professionals and support services award (MA000027). Eventually you will be given wages above award, how quickly you get there depends on your work ethics and performance.

Normal hours would be 8am-5.30pm especially initially. However eventually as you gain experience, your hours may shift depending on the dentists day - eg some days you might be staying a little later, others you might be able to leave a bit early or have a half day etc.
