Norwest Private Hospital is in the rapidly developing North West corridor of Sydney and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. The hospital has 277 beds and is a high acuity facility with a high performing Emergency Department located in Sydney’s Bella Vista.
**The Role**
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and resilient Nurse Manager with specialist skills in the Perioperative instrument nurse field to join our dynamic workforce of nursing professionals in the position of Deputy Theatre Manager.
The Deputy Theatre Manager**_ _**is a pivotal position within the surgical services and works as key role to coordinate the perioperative service. The position provides advanced nursing leadership in proactively managing and coordinating clinical practice and the provision of human, financial and material resources in accordance with organisational goals, ensuring a cost-effective nursing service focused on providing exceptional, evidenced-based patient care.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Workforce management of instrument and circulating nurses
- Scheduling and management of theatre lists
- Direct supervision of Floor Coordinators, Specialised nurses (CNC, CNS), Neuro/Spinal, Cardiac and Orthopaedic Coordinators
- Management of key performance indicators, quality projects and adhering to the NSQHSS and ACORN Standards
- Development and review of policies
- Deputise to the Perioperative Services Manager
- Knowledge of WHS rules and regulations
**The Department**
Our Operating Theatre main complex has 16 theatres, 32 first stage recovery bays as well as an additional 32 second stage recliners within the day surgery centre.
Our specialties include General (including laparoscopic), Colorectal, Bariatric, Orthopaedic, Cardiothoracic, ENT, Plastics, Paediatric, Oral & Dental Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Ophthalmic, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery, Urology and Vascular surgery
**What you'll need to succeed**
**Essential Qualities**:
- Relevant registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse
- Minimum 3 years at a middle management level within the perioperative services environment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in perioperative services (instrument/circulating nurse roles)
- Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate the clinical team using positive leadership skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrated change management utilising excellent interpersonal skills
- Post graduate certificate qualification in perioperative specialty
- Demonstrated ability of the use of WEBPAS (patient management system)
- Proven understanding of Quality and HR systems and relevant policies and procedures
**Desirable Qualities**:
- Post graduate qualification in health management or working towards.
