**Your opportunity**
An exciting opportunity is now available to lead our Community Safety department. As one of the four leaders reporting to the General Manager Community Life, this position manages a variety of functions that make up the Community Safety team.

In this role, you will lead the Community Emergency Management, Ranger Services, Environmental Health, and Building Services teams, providing outcomes for the community that ensure the Surf Coast remains one of the most liveable places in Victoria.

You will be an admired leader of others within and beyond your formal span of control with a reputation for having a positive impact on team and organisation culture.

You will have a passion for continuous improvement and drive efficiencies and quality outcomes across teams.

**Mandatory Requirements (Skills & Experience)**
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Emergency Management, Building Surveying or a relevant discipline with post graduate and leadership qualifications or demonstrated level of suitable experience
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to consult, influence and communicate with internal staff, Councillors and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated track record in leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team delivering regulatory services in a government context
- A detailed understanding of the legislative environment, principles and practices relating to local law regulatory compliance, particularly in a local government setting

The successful applicant will also need to meet the below criteria:

- Current Victorian driver’s licence.
- A current WWCC.
