Job Summary - Deliver / Set-up / Collect party hire equipment.

40 Hours per week approximately, Casual - Weekend work required.

Eltham Party Hire are looking for a reliable and responsible driver to deliver our party hire products from our facility in EPPING across most of greater Melbourne, dealing directly with our customers, delivering and collecting 2-3 days a week and weekends (but they are shorter days). Occasionally a Monday will be swapped for a Tuesday when there is a public holiday.

This involves delivering, setting up, demonstrating, having a chat and coming back after the fun has been had to pick-up again. Expect 10 hours on Friday, 10 hours on Monday and additional work on Saturday and Sunday when we deliver and collect Photo Booths. Additional work may spill into a Tuesday and Thursday during the busiest times.

It’s important to know this is not typical delivery driving or courier work, our business needs you to take your time, have a chat with customers and then move onto the next job.

About Eltham Party Hire

Our business was born from frustration We’re parents that wanted to throw a home-based birthday party for our daughter, hiring just a few tables and chairs was a task. We decided to fix that.

Our online business offers are large range of party hire products from popcorn machines to Photo Booths, from Slushy machines to Hot Dog steamers. You name it, we’ve probably got it. We pride ourselves in keeping our customers informed (when we will deliver) also showing them how to use our products.

About the role

Our delivery drivers are expected to positively interact with our customers and clients, building relationships with them to provide any relevant information relating to their orders. Unlike being a courier driver, we want you to have a chat, our business is about having a good time, so spending some time with our clients is important to them and to us, rushing through the deliveries to finish early is the last thing we want.

In addition to delivering orders across Melbourne, this role is also responsible for ensuring that our van is clean and presents our brand in the best possible light as well as bring to our attention any maintenance required on the vehicle. We operate Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, if you have driven one, you’ll know they are great to drive, plus we’ve filled them with all sorts of geeky options like google maps-based GPS with a great big screen.

Who we’re looking for:
An individual who has previous experience with people Delivering our products after you know them and understand them is not rocket science, but your interaction with our customers is important, if they have a good time, you’ll see them again next year, which is already our experience.

What is important for you to know:
Strength is required to move our equipment around. Some of our machines, such as slush machines are heavy, from 40-85KG. Whilst they are on carts and our vehicles have hydraulic lifting, handling these machines also requires strength and ability to negotiate terrain that is sometimes rough, may have a few steps and regularly dealing with residential homes that may have slopes on the driveway. You'll require strength to ensure that you handle our equipment in such a way that you don't do yourself an injury. We are not wanting to employ someone that will struggle and potentially cause themselves an injury, we want a long-term relationship, which can only happen if you're happy, healthy, uninjured and well taken care of (by us).

In addition, we’re looking for someone with the following qualities and experience:

- Valid Victorian Driver's License
- Previous delivery experience driving vans/truck (interesting but not essential)
- Previous experience in a customer facing role is also a bonus
- Over at least 25 years old as we simply cannot insure anyone younger to drive our vehicles, **there is no upper age limit.**:

- Excellent customer-service skills - loves interacting with people
- Energetic and diligent
- Strong enough to deal lift our equipment, which in some cases is not light
- Well-presented
- Mature and responsible approach to their work, ideally someone that perhaps retired too early.
- Great attitude
- Reliable
- Team player

Casual hours: 30-40 per week
