**About Us**

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

NBMLHD’s Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery, Population level health promotion programs and capacity building initiates to members of priority populations on priority issues.

An exciting opportunity is now available to join the Population Health team as a Health Education Officer in a Temporary Part time role until December 2025. This position on offer is located at our Lemongrove Campus, Penrith.

Your role as the Health Education Officer is to improve the health and wellbeing of children in their early years (birth-5 years or 'First 2000 days') and school aged children in Nepean Blue Mountains.
This includes building partnerships with:

- Local Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services and supporting educators within services to meet key performance indicators associated with the NSW Healthy Children Initiative (HCI), particularly the Munch & Move Program, as well as align with The First 2000 Days Framework
- Schools and supporting teachers to meet key performance indicators associated with HCI, particularly Live Life Well at School programs, as well as support new initiatives in high schools
- Other local stakeholders and supporting the health promotion team to meet key performance indicators associated with HCI, particularly the Go4Fun program, as well as other initiatives that support the health and wellbeing of children and their families

The role also involves developing, implementing and evaluating a range of strategies targeting children in their early years and school years to support their health and wellbeing.

**What you will bring to the role**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health promotion, population/public health, education, community development, communication, marketing, child care and allied health discipline (eg exercise physiologist, physiotherapist and dietician) or other relevant field/areas.
- Proven experience working in the NSW Healthy Children's Initiative, including, Munch and Move, Live Life Well and/or Go4Fun or similar programs targeting healthy eating and physical activity to reduce childhood obesity in the early years and school years settings.
- High level project management skills including demonstrated ability to plan, implement, evaluate and disseminate a population health project and report on project outcomes.
- Sound organisational and computer skills, and the capacity to successfully manage several tasks concurrently to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a cross cultural context, and the ability to work with and engage young people and their families and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with mínimal direction and as part of a team.
