NBMLHD’s Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery, Population level health promotion programs and capacity building initiates to members of priority populations on priority issues.
We are seeking a passionate and community-focused individual to join our team in a vital role aimed at improving blood borne virus (BBV) and sexual health outcomes for Aboriginal people in the Nepean Blue Mountains region, including those who identify as LGBTIQ+. This role is responsible for developing and implementing health promotion activities that address sexual health, BBVs, and the stigma and discrimination associated with them, including prevention and testing initiatives for people who inject drugs.
Working as part of the BBV and Sexual Health Promotion (BBV & SHP) Team, you will collaborate closely with Population Health, Aboriginal Health, and other teams across the Local Health District, as well as with key Aboriginal community and government partners. You will contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs aligned with NSW Health strategies, including the STI, HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and LGBTIQ+ Health Strategies. A key aspect of the role involves building the capacity of Aboriginal community-based organisations to deliver effective BBV and sexual health promotion, while also providing expert advice on the social and individual impacts of BBVs and STIs.

**What you will bring to the role**
- This is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position and, as such, applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in their local community, and possess the requisite cultural knowledge. NBMLHD considers that being Aboriginal is genuine occupational qualification under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as health promotion, sexual health, population health, or education and experience working in sexual health, blood borne viruses and/or youth health promotion.
- Sound knowledge of Aboriginal sexual health needs and issues and the individual and social impacts of blood borne viruses and STIs.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based community education projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, teamwork, written and oral communication skills and high-level computer literacy.
- Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community, government and non-government organisations to achieve outcomes in health promotion.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
- Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
