An exciting opportunity exists for a Policy Officer on a Fixed Term basis in the Victorian Disability Worker Commission.
The Victorian Disability Worker Commission (Commission) is an independent, statutory body responsible for the administration of the Disability Service Safeguards Act 2018, which involves the regulation of all disability workers in Victoria. The Disability Worker Regulation Scheme (the Scheme) applies to disability workers in Victoria, providing a complaints mechanism and a voluntary registration scheme.
The Commission receives, assesses and deals with complaints about disability workers and supports the Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria and the Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner.
The Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner regulates the conduct of unregistered disability. The Commissioner is also the head of the Commission. The Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria registers disability workers who meet certain standards and can take action regarding the conduct of registered disability workers. It also accredits training programs for disability workers.
The Commission is seeking to attract people who will build an organisational culture that values people with disability and champions their rights to safe high-quality services, community participation and inclusion.
Reporting to the Principal Strategic Advisor, the Policy Officer role will develop high quality operational policy solutions, and documentation which are consistent with the Disability Services Safeguards Act 2018 and support the development and implementation of systems for the Disability Worker Regulation Scheme (the Scheme).

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS POLICY

- Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by people with disability and the disability workforce.
- Experience in the practical implementation of legislative reform programs, writing complex briefs informed by legislation and expert knowledge in regulatory frameworks would be expected.
